HR-2
Humanoid Robot No.2

The HR-2 robot was constructed over a period of three months at the Chalmers University of Sweden in 2005. It has 22 degrees of freedom, which enable it to easily move around imitating human motions. The robot is also equipped with stereovision giving it a depth of vision for hand-eye coordination. An artificial neural network was evolved to make an artificial brain capable of tracking faces as well as recognizing them.

For voice synthesis the HR-2 uses Text Aloud MP3 which reads text put through the robots computer interface and translates it into a spoken voice. This software makes it easy to program custom messages into the HR-2, as well as giving it the ability to read emails and other text based media out loud.
