, and the man responsible for the

, gave details of his latest project at last weeks
TED Talks 2007
. Commissioned by the Department of Defense, Kamen and his team have designed a functional robotic arm. It weighs only six-pounds and is nimble enough to scratch a nose, pick up a pen, and perform other delicate actions.
There is a growing demand for prosthetic limbs as advancements in medicine have allowed many seriously injured people to survive what would have previously been fatal wounds
